Fnewsx is updated to suit your needs. Now it works in color..

Fnewsx v0.11
Your new Flash News Headline Scroller. It uses FLASH+PHP. There is an admin file to create,edit and delete news headlines.
Plans for the future are:
1- Form input detection to make the user enter proper data to fields (Such as double quotes)
2- Scroll speed control
3- Inserting images into headlines
I will be happy to get mail from the users if there will be any to keep them
informed about the future versions.
If you have any suggestions and ideas please advise so that i can improve it more.

Thank you for the news scroller, I have been looking for something like this for a long time.
Is there a way to manualy change the colour of the text? Also can you add me to your mailing list so when the next version is released I can use it.

Just one other question, if you make a hyperlink on the news scroller, is there a way to make the link open up in a new window?

Sorry for the late answers. Mails came late to me i think from the server.
William For the Chinese i am not sure. I added a find and replace code for Turkish only. Since the xml file had to be UTF-8 i had to make changes according to language. I will give it a try in future for the other languages.
Neil I will add another option inside the Admin area for that selection. And coloring selection. But no its not yet available at the moment.
I will add both to my newsletter to keep you informed. Thanks fot the comments.

Hi K A I have not gone *live* with the fnewsx as I will need to wait untill the next version. I need the hyperlinks, to open in a new window.
I will be useing this in an i-frame, hence the problem at the moment. As soon as I have a few more options with the script, I will go live with it.

Good to see the changes.. this is now working OK for my site. I still have a few things to do, before I go live with it.
A hex colour finder would be a help to many, that do not know hex colour values… but Hey, this is starting to look very good.

Found another option that I need before I can go live with this.
How do you change the order of the news that you publish? You may do a news story one day, then in a few days time want that story to be at the top of the list?

I took a look at the javascript color chooers which i dont find them easier to use. Bu i will get a solution for the color chooser in time.
About the order i knew that was an issue also. I will figure out a solution for that also.. but don’t know when..

Very nice idea. I try translate in slovak (central european) languge at utf-8 encoding, but swf does’nt correctly interpret it. I thing it is need add for Dynamic Text embaded Latin Extended?
(This problem it is in fgaleix especially of the name in a subdirectory of the pictures.)
For case “doedit” you have twice in line 194
“$data.=”\$detail=\”".$_POST["detail"].”\”;\n”;”
I thing it shell be useful give the user a possibility change width and hight of swf in admin.
By the way, you have realy good work.

Yes you may be right about the encoding. You have to embed the encoding you need to embed. About the sizes you are right i need to add extra control over the SWF file sizes. in the admin file and the swf. But just couldnt find time to update.
One other thing is that I had to make a function to replace all the characters that doent work correct with UTF-8 encoding. Like tha Turkish special characters such as ğüşiĞI etc…
May be in the near future..

Thanks for sending .fla files. I made changes in embed of dtext and dheader for latin encoding extentions A and Fnews performance Ok in Sk language and I thing for another CE languages too. But I must block a function for replace the characters, but it’nt necesery for my purpose. Some characters you replace was interpreted lake Turkish of course.
Another question is, how give away spare part beetwen execution new cycle?

Hey KA,
Loving the script, you don’t know how long I’ve looked for something like this. A couple of requests.
I need to have a horizontal scroller which shows only one line, instead of a vertical one. Also, I need it to be a specific size, is there anyone you can release a horizontal one and maybe include the fla so I can add a couple of graphical touches?
It’s to be used on the Medical Records UK Ltd. website (record label run by the drummer of the bloodhound gang) so it’d get some exposure.
If you could lemme know A.S.A.P. that’d be great.

Hi,
would it be possible that you post the .fla file as well? I would need to make some changes to fonts, scrolling speed etc.. in order to use your scroller. Without the .fla file its not possible.
